Our latest quarterly Build-to-Rent (BTR) report, prepared by Savills for Real Estate:UK, provides a detailed snapshot of the UK sector at Q2 2026. It tracks completed homes, schemes under construction and the planning pipeline, with national figures and analysis covering London, regional markets and each of the four UK nations.

The report shows that the total BTR sector has grown to 310,310 homes, including 156,688 completed homes. However, pressures on future delivery are intensifying: annual starts fell by 79% to 3,455, while the number of homes under construction declined by 21% year on year.

It also examines BTR apartments and houses, rental demand, investment and the wider private rented sector supply picture.

This edition includes dedicated spotlights on Manchester and Salford and investor sentiment, exploring the sector’s geographic reach, changing investment patterns and the factors that could shape future development.
