Scottish Government and Real Estate Industry Forge New Partnership to Showcase Scotland on the Global Stage

An exciting new initiative announced jointly by the Scottish Government and Real Estate: Scotland today will see the creation of a new partnership that will promote Scotland's real estate investment opportunities on the international stage.

Backed by £100,000 Scottish Government funding and initial private sector match funding of £108,000, it will bring together government and industry behind a coordinated proposition to showcase investment opportunities, facilitate direct engagement with key investors, and support long-term relationship-building that extends well beyond events such as MIPIM and UKREiiF, which attract thousands of institutional investors from home and abroad with billions of pounds to deploy.

Positioning Scotland as an attractive and investable destination for real estate and regeneration investment, the programme will create meaningful opportunities for investors to engage directly with the Scottish Government, local authorities and leading Scottish real estate industry figures, as well as showcasing investable projects that Scotland has to offer.

The Scottish Government’s recently published Programme for Government focuses on improving Scotland’s economy and recognises the role of the private sector in delivering economic growth. Attracting increased private capital investment, through engaging with investors, including pension funds and championing Scotland’s strengths on the global stage will be essential to deliver sustainable economic prosperity for Scotland.

Speaking to senior delegates from the Scottish and wider UK Real Estate sector at the Real Estate:Scotland parliamentary reception which was hosted by Paul McLennan MSP and attended by cross party supporters, Cameron Stott, Chair of Real Estate: Scotland and Head of Scotland for JLL, said:

"We are delighted that the Scottish Government has recognised the value of a coordinated approach to promoting Scotland internationally for real estate investment and business opportunities, and reflects an appreciation of the economic and social impact the property sector has on communities throughout Scotland.

This support is a welcome catalyst for our industry and a real vote of confidence in what the Scottish real estate sector has to offer. It gives us a platform to represent Scotland with one voice, showcasing the strength of our real estate sector, builds a platform for investment into Scotland and supports the sector to win business opportunities for Scottish real estate companies globally."

Cabinet Secretary for the Economy, Transport and Tourism, Stephen Flynn MSP commented:

“Real Estate:Scotland's inaugural Parliamentary Reception is a welcome opportunity to bring together industry, parliamentarians and government to support investment and economic growth. The Scottish Government is working with R E S and other public and private partners to bring investment to Scotland. Our joint participation in MIPIM 2027 (a major international real estate event), supported by £100k of funding from the Scottish Government and initial match funding of £108K from private sector partners, demonstrates that partnership in action.”

Elliot Robertson, CEO Robertson Group commented:

“This programme gives Scotland an opportunity to take a more coordinated approach to attracting investment and promoting the strengths of our real estate sector.

“Robertson has worked closely with Scottish Government and industry partners over the past year to help develop this approach, and we will continue to support its delivery.

“The opportunity now is for the industry to come together behind a shared set of priorities and make a strong case for investment in Scotland. By working together, we can create the conditions for a thriving and growing economy, attracting investment, supporting job growth and creating opportunities across the country.

“We would encourage organisations from across the sector to join us as partners in Invest Scotland and help build a stronger, more unified platform for showcasing Scotland internationally.”
